AMD 780 Series

AMD unveils a new motherboard specifically designed for the players and fans of multimedia. The motherboard AMD 780 series GPU [video], the core of the platform for the office component of AMD PC platform code-named “Cart Wheel” and AMD Laptop, PC platform name code “Puma,” said the chip maker. Both are scheduled for the 2nd Quarter of 2008.

The new platform supports Phenom 9000 Series AMD quad-core processors or Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core.

“The introduction of the 780 series of AMD scored some major step forward in the mainstream PC functions. Starting today, consumers can obtain the HD-video and 3D gaming experiences leger Remarkable, as well as energy efficiency, “said Phil Eisler, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Division of AMD chips. “The release of 780 AMD in the series is consistent with the vision that can provide AMD Computing The Ultimate Visual Experience and now-Mainstream PC prices.”

The chipset AMD-780G chipset is the first by the company, which set DirectX 10 compatibility.
