Another DVD format war?

A penalty, the battle for the next generation of high-definition DVD format finished with Blu-ray victory over HD-DVD, a new thing.

A new system, which is incompatible with Blu-ray, HD-VMD, and for its many Multilayer Disc, is looking for a place. New Medium Enterprises, London, the company behind the HD-VMD, so that the system, the quality is equal to Blu-ray, but it costs less. Thanks to the under-side of the competition in the production, replication and the cost of equipment, they think that there will be a market for consumers under the age of disposable income, particularly outside the United States.

An HD-VMD-Player costs less of a Blu-ray uses, because the red lasers and technology today in the standard definition DVD players. The Blu-ray and HD-DVD, the machines use a blue laser system more expensive. “We have no intention of Blu-ray,” said Shirly Levich, New Medium Vice President and Director of Product Development, in an e-mail. “We see VMD as a natural extension of the mass market products expanded DVD, HD-building. We will format is not war.”
