Oklahoma DPS Approved Drivers Ed Course

January 20th, 2008 · No Comments ·

Great news for parents in Oklahoma! You can now opt to enroll your teen in a parent taught online Oklahoma drivers ed course instead of going to a traditional driver education class. This is especially important for parents that liven in remote parts of Oklahoma where a drivers ed school may be more than an hour away.

Here’s how it works. Enroll in a State DPS Approved Oklahoma Drivers Education course. This is important, because many sites may offer a generic course, so you want to make sure it is DPS approved, such as the one above. The student begins taking the classroom portion online. After the first six hours, you can apply for your Oklahoma learners permit. After receiving that, you will spend time with a parent behind the wheel, learning to drive. Parents will have printout sheets to cover the driving objectives. The student driver will hold their learners permit for six months. Upon course completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.

The Certificate of Completion is presented to the local DPS office as proof of completing a DPS approved course. At age 16 and having completed this course, you can receive your Oklahoma drivers license. For more information on this course, visit the Driver Education website.
