The new system, called P4P can be trusted content owners including films, TV programs, software and large databases.

Due to the change in the peer-to-peer file-swapping technology, the researchers have found a way to not only reduce congestion data on the Web, but also faster delivery of video content for consumers.
In a presentation to the Distributed Computing Industry Association (DCIA) Friday by researchers from Pando Networks, Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) and Yale University, the results of tests using advanced P2P techniques for transferring large files described.

With traditional host-server technology, most of the files from the servers are owned by content providers or Internet service providers. The customer requests a file downloaded, and it is directly to the customer.

With P2P, a client takes bits arbitrary content from around the world who may be congesting the Internet in the process. The researchers said that the files are ignorant of the physical location of the data and sometimes with a “brute force” approach to compensate for the long-distance delivery delays.
